“With International Women’s Day I want to celebrate a person and artist very close to me, my dear Fenna Schoren.

I celebrate her for the countless times she has shown kindness and patience in the face of adverse conditions and adverse people. I celebrate her for her persistence in her personal vision of an earthly paradise, which she pursues with imagination, with sensitivity, and with an open, vulnerable heart. I celebrate her for all the times she confrontεδ the ugliness of life – with a smile, that she offered her personal emotional space for someone else’s need, and for all the times she fell, that she ‘had enough’, that she was lost and chaotic. I celebrate her for her ease to love, deeply and eternally. With her attitude, she rebels against the social, psychological, and physical violence that is normalized in our lives, on a small and large scale.

Fenna is, in my eyes, a young heroine of everyday life, at a time when everyone needs to find the heroine in them. As we all have become who we are today through very specific individual conditions, Fenna is not an example to be imitated. The ‘bet’ for me is to find our personal strength, to chase fear everywhere, and to meet the beauty of our fellow inhabitants on this planet, every day.
